Profile

Dr. Antony Stathopoulos is Professor Emeritus of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), School of Civil Engineering, Dept. of Transportation Planning and Engineering. He holds a Nat. Dipl. in Mathematics from the University of Athens, MPhil in Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and Dr-Ing from the School of Civil Engineering, NTUA. He was Director of the Laboratory of Railways and Transport and the Laboratory of Personal Computers, both of the School of Civil Engineering, NTUA. He was professor of Transportation Systems Analysis. He also taught Quantitative Methods in Transportation and Quality Assurance and Control. He coordinated three post-graduate courses at the Schools of Architecture (NTUA) and of Electrical and Computer Engineering (NTUA) and of the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Thessaloniki. He currently coordinates two courses of the post-graduate sub-program ‘Port Management’ of the School of Civil Engineering, NTUA. He is a Member of the Steering Committee of the Joint Transport Research Centre of the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) and the International Transport Forum (ITF) in Paris. He has authored/co-authored more than 150 research papers published in international Journals and Conference Proceedings and two textbooks. His research interests span the fields of Transportation Systems Analysis, Modelling and Control, Port Planning and Operations, Environmental Impact of Transportation and Intelligent Transportation Systems. He has conducted contract research for the EU, the UN and the Greek Government on topics of Advanced Transport Telematics, Environment and Safety, User Response, Demand Management, Combined Transport, Railway Engineering and Demand and Technology Forecasting.
