Profile
Emmanouil Nisyrios is a Ph.D. Candidate and Research Associate in the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering, of the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Since 2017, he holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from NTUA, specializing in Transportation Engineering. Also, from 2021 he holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) diploma in Transportation Systems, from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), with a focus on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The subject of his master’s thesis was entitled: “Evaluation of the impact of future fleet composition in vehicle emissions in urban areas”, which was supervised by Prof. Dr. Constantinos Antoniou.
In the past, he has worked as a Research Assistant at the German Research Institute, Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO, in the Mobility Ecosystems team, and the field of “Urban Mobility Modelling and Traffic Simulation”. The main topics he dealt with in National and European programs were: Design of Stated Preference (SP) Experiments, Data Collection and Analysis, Urban Mobility Behavior, Mode Choice Modeling, Four-Step Models, Macroscopic Traffic Simulations and Modeling of Vehicle Emissions. His research interests and expertise include, among others, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS), Data Collection and Analysis, Transportation Planning and Sustainability, Traffic Modeling and Simulation, and Optimization of Transportation Systems.
Emmanouil Nisyrios is pursuing his Doctoral Dissertation entitled “Optimization and simulation-based assessment of traffic and fleet management strategies for connected and autonomous vehicles” under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Konstantinos Gkiotsalitis. His Doctoral Dissertation is implemented with a scholarship from the research program “CONDUCTOR EU H2020 Project: Fleet and Traffic Management Systems for conducting Future Cooperative Mobility”, and the Special Account for Research Funding of the National Technical University of Athens (ELKE NTUA).
