The Railways and Transport Lab is looking for research and development personnel for European and National Research Projects in Public Transport Optimization and Electrification. The Railways and Transport Laboratory has a research team of 12 members (8 PhD Candidates and 4 Senior Researchers) and is part of the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering that has a research team of 33 PhD Candidates.

The postholder responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Public Transport Optimization models for integrated transport networks
  • Developing Optimization models for Public Transport Services operated by Electric Vehicles
  • Liaising with Public Transport Service Providers and Tech Companies
  • Developing Decision Support systems in Python or Matlab
  • Producing high-quality research
  • Guiding and supporting students pursuing their BSc and MSc degrees, including supervision and teaching responsibilities

Set within NTUA’s School of Civil Engineering, the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering is comprised of three world-class Research Laboratories: the Railways and Transport Laboratory, the Traffic Engineering Laboratory, and the Pavement Engineering Laboratory. The role of the Department is to facilitate the Laboratories and help them grow, enabling them to develop their academic direction and strategies.

The Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering at NTUA employs 5 Faculty Members, 29 Research Associates, 33 PhD Candidates and 6 Technical and Administrative Staff members.

Established in 1962, the Railways and Transport Lab at NTUA performs R&D and Educational activities in the areas of transport modeling, public transport, freight transport, railway infrastructure, maritime, airports, and intelligent transportation systems.

The Laboratory staff consists of 1 Faculty Member, 4 Emeriti Professors, 1 Laboratory and Teaching staff member, 2 Senior Researchers, 1 Laboratory Technical Staff member, and 8 PhD Candidates.
